2012 Crescent Hill Garden Tour Adds Music

Sounds of mandolins, xylophone and and bagpipe will fill the air as part of the 18th annual Crescent Hill Garden Tour on Saturday, June 2 (9 to 5, rain or shine).

This year tour-goers will be treated to a feast for all the senses, with gardens filled not only with the sights and smells of flowers and vegetables, but the sounds of local musicians to accompany garden sounds of birds -- including backyard chickens! -- and waterfalls. The tour again features 10 private gardens in one of Louisville's most eclectic and historic neighborhoods. Many gardens will have local musicians performing. In addition, musicians throughout the day will play on the porch and in the Sitting Garden of the Peterson-Dumesnil house, where the Tour begins and where brunch will be served from 10 to noon.

The Crescent Hill Garden Tour is known for showcasing the fruits of Crescent Hill's "working gardeners" -- homeowners whose gardens give tour-goers new ideas to try in their own home gardens, from the latest horticultural trends to innovative ideas and experiments. As in years past, a number of the gardens are grouped, making for a more comfortable tour with less walking!

The Club's Tour Day Brunch is back by popular demand. A sit-down brunch will be served on the porch of the gracious historic Peterson-Dumesnil House (301 S. Peterson Ave.) from 10 a.m. to noon. Tickets for the Brunch cost $8 and must be purchased separately from the Tour ticket. No advance reservations are required for the Brunch.

The Garden Tour can be taken from 9 a.m onward (ending at 5 p.m.), starting at the Peterson-Dumesnil House, where tickets for Tour and brunch may be purchased at the start of the Tour. Tour tickets are $10; brunch tickets are $8. This tour remains one of the area's most affordable garden events.
